About The Event
One of the original objects of the St. George’s Society Toronto on its founding in 1834 was to offer “educational assistance’. In 2005 the Society established an endowment at York University with funds raised at the Annual Red Rose Ball. This was followed by endowments to the University of Toronto, Ryerson University, the Ontario College of Arts and Design and Wycliffe College. Led by the Committee of Management, the Society members engaged in charitable fund raising that resulted in these endowments which totaled several million.
Annually, scholarships are awarded to students in varied fields of study at the five institutions. The Scholars’ Event is a social evening with recipients and their families and/or friends attending enabling the Society to meet the bright young minds.
The evening highlight is a guest speaker.
The evening will include light refreshments and a glass of wine or soft drinks. Extra wine tickets can be purchased at $5.00 each.
